Let customers speak for us
Red is one of the most striking and geologically diverse colors in the mineral kingdom. The rich reds, crimsons, and burgundies in crystals are most commonly caused by iron oxide (as in hematite and jasper), chromium (as in ruby and some garnets), or manganese (as in rhodonite and rhodochrosite). In some cases, copper produces reddish tones, while in others, the color comes from included mineral fibers or natural irradiation affecting the crystal structure.
This collection of over 150 red and crimson specimens includes Red Jasper, an opaque microcrystalline quartz colored by iron oxide inclusions, one of the most historically significant ornamental stones; Garnet, a group of silicate minerals whose deep red almandine and pyrope varieties have been used in jewelry since the Bronze Age; Carnelian, a translucent orange-red chalcedony prized since Egyptian antiquity; Rhodonite, a manganese silicate with distinctive pink-red color and black manganese oxide veining; and Red Tiger's Eye, a chatoyant quartz whose red color comes from oxidized iron within its crocidolite fiber structure.
Red minerals make bold statement pieces in any collection, offering dramatic contrast against cooler-toned specimens. Browse hand-selected rough, polished, and carved pieces sourced for depth of color and mineral quality.
