What are the most durable crystals for travel?
The most travel-durable crystals are those rated Mohs 6.5 or higher: quartz varieties (amethyst, citrine, smoky quartz, rose quartz at Mohs 7), jasper, agate, tiger's eye, and tourmaline. Softer stones like fluorite (Mohs 4) and selenite (Mohs 2) are more prone to scratching and chipping during travel.
What size crystals are best for travel?
Tumbled stones (0.5–1.5 inches) and palm stones (2–3 inches) are the most travel-friendly sizes. They fit easily in pockets, pouches, or carry-on bags without adding significant weight. Flat palm stones are especially practical as they don't roll around.
How should I pack crystals for travel?
Wrap each crystal individually in soft cloth, a microfiber pouch, or bubble wrap. Keep them in a padded pouch or small case — a jewelry roll works well. Separate harder stones from softer ones to prevent scratching. For checked luggage, add extra padding and place crystals in the center of your bag.
