A commanding green onyx obelisk tower standing 16 inches tall and weighing 3.5 kilograms (7.7 lbs). The polished surface reveals sweeping bands of sage green, cream, honey gold, and rust that flow through the stone like a topographic map. Each face of the hexagonal obelisk catches light differently, shifting between translucent green zones and opaque caramel veining.
Pakistani green onyx is a banded calcite formed deep within cave systems, where mineral-laden water deposited layer upon layer of calcium carbonate over millennia. The green coloration comes from trace copper and iron, while the warm rust veins mark periods of iron-rich water flow. This statement piece works equally well as a standalone sculptural object or as a grounding anchor in a curated shelf or mantel arrangement.
About the stone
Onyx is chalcedony — quartz in crystals too small to see even under a microscope. Its uniform black is rarely how it leaves the ground: since Roman times, cutters have deepened pale banded stone with a sugar-and-heat treatment, a technique so old that Pliny the Elder described it nearly 2,000 years ago.
