Amethyst receives its distinctive purple from trace iron and natural irradiation, a process spanning millions of years within volcanic gas cavities. The most sought-after specimens, like this one, exhibit exceptional saturation with a uniform deep violet hue and glossy crystal faces, distinguishing them from common paler varieties.

About the stone
