An extraordinarily deep, near-black Amethyst point from a now-closed mine in Brazil. Under backlighting, the stone reveals intense violet-purple saturation with internal crystal formations. This level of color depth is no longer available at the source — once it's gone, it's gone.

This amethyst comes from a Brazilian mine that has since been closed and is no longer accessible. The extreme depth of purple — nearly opaque in ambient light, blazing violet when backlit — is characteristic of this specific deposit. Collector-grade specimens like this are increasingly rare as existing inventory depletes.
About the stone
Amethyst's purple comes from trace iron irradiated naturally inside the quartz over geologic time. Heat it past roughly 400°C and the purple turns golden — most commercial citrine started life as amethyst.
