Let customers speak for us
Purple is one of the most sought-after colors in the mineral world, and for good reason. The violet-to-plum spectrum in crystals is typically produced by trace amounts of iron and manganese interacting with a mineral's crystal lattice, or by natural irradiation altering the oxidation state of iron within quartz. The result is a color range from pale lavender to deep, saturated grape — some of the most visually striking specimens in any collection.
This collection features over 700 purple and violet minerals, including Amethyst, the classic iron-bearing quartz whose color deepens with natural gamma radiation underground; Lepidolite, a lithium-rich mica with a soft lilac hue and pearly luster; Charoite, a rare silicate found only along the Chara River in Siberia, known for its swirling violet and white patterns; Sugilite, a rare cyclosilicate prized for its vivid magenta-purple; and Purple Fluorite, whose color comes from trace amounts of yttrium or other rare earth elements substituting into its calcium fluoride structure.
Many collectors build entire displays around the purple spectrum, pairing deep amethyst geodes with lighter lepidolite and translucent fluorite for contrast. Browse hand-sourced specimens ranging from raw clusters and geode slices to polished towers and collector-grade carvings.
