How to make an altar at home using your favorite crystals?
You might be thinking: What on earth is an altar? And why do I need one? Those are some of the questions we are going to explore in this blog post, so keep reading. Let’s start from the beginning, shall we?
What is an altar?
It’s a space where you can connect with your spirituality and your inner-self. You can go to meditate, read from sacred books, and perform rituals that are special to you there. It’s a space that speaks to your divine self.
These personal spaces are an essential part of your spiritual life and can help you deepen your relationship with spirituality as a whole. Because an altar is a surface or space where you conduct your spiritual practices, rituals, and meditations it is like a magical portal.
Why do you need one? Well, having a specific place in your house that you designate to get in touch with parts of yourself that are normally “hard to access” can help you de-stress, process your emotions, and stay in the present moment for longer periods of time. Altars can also be used to enhance and amplify your desires, helping you work through specific intentions.
What to include in your home altar
Your home altar can be as simple or as complex as you like. You can put your crystals, money, flowers, trinkets, and photos. Honestly, you can place any visual representations of what you want to attract more, heal, and/or honor.
The best part is, that altars can be created anywhere so don’t be afraid of using open spaces in your home, such as a table, a countertop, or a little corner on the floor.
How to create a home altar using crystals?
Start by selecting your favorite crystals. If you are not sure which ones to use, we highly recommend checking out our Crystal Index Cards first!
Once you have your crystals, it’s time to find things to represent the 5 elements: Fire, Earth, Air, Water, and Metal.
When you sorted that part, you can go two different ways about how to put your altar together:
- You can light up a candle, meditate for a couple of minutes and then start placing the different objects in the way your gut (intuition) tells you to.
- Or, you can try to create a mandala with all the pieces you’ve gathered. The key to this approach is to balance it out and make it as symmetrical as possible.
(Remember to activate your crystals before placing them in their final spot. Simply hold them in your hand and set an intention, they will start working their magic after that).
Also, remember that consistency is key! So, get into the habit of dedicating a few minutes a week to interact with your crystals and your altar, even if it is for just 5 minutes.
We promise you’ll start noticing a difference in your energy in no time!
