About Fisher Mountain Quartz

Fisher Mountain in Montgomery County, Arkansas sits within the Ouachita Mountains — a geological region renowned for producing exceptionally clear and deeply colored quartz crystals. The smoky coloration in these specimens is entirely natural, caused by aluminum impurities in the crystal lattice being activated by natural gamma radiation from surrounding granite over millions of years. Unlike commercially irradiated smoky quartz, Fisher Mountain specimens display organic color zoning and transparency gradients that cannot be replicated.
